Do you speak skype?

After hearing so much about Skype from our friends, I finally decided to give it a try. Skype is a free software that let’s you talk over the Intenet via the microphone on your computer. This means that anyone with a good Internet connection can talk to anyone else in the world for free. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?
Late Sunday night, sitting on either side of the dinning room, about four feet apart, Charlie and I downloaded Skype onto our laptops and gave it a try. After only 10 minutes of installation and setup, we chatted via our laptops. As geeky as this might seem, we then dialed our friend Jon Goldberg who happened to be on-line at the time and is a big Skype fan. The sound quality was amazingly good, better than a cellphone.
After passing the local connection test, we tested it internationaly to a friend in China. The sound quality was not nearly as good, there was a bit of an echo and some lag time, but it was good enough for the price - free.
If anyone is interested, you can download the Skype from http://www.skype.com.
